A big attraction in Toowoomba is its diverse range of cultural cafes and restaurants which have popped up in response to the evergrowing multicultural profile of this beautiful inland regional city. Study Toowoomba student Ambassadors have been proactive in the community promoting their own cultural cuisines at the annual Harmony Day at Pcnic Point perched on the edge of the Great Dividing Range which gives Toowoomba its seasonal climate. The students have also tasted the delights of the Durbar Restaurant at the Uni Plaza opposite the University of Southern Queensland proudly offering a great menu of Nepalese tastes.
The students have grasped the opportunity to become embedded into the multicultural recipe book More Tastes of Toowoomba sharing recipes for all the community to add to their kitchen repetoire. Toowoomba offers many such opportunities to recognise other cultures and increase local awareness.
Today was another milestone for the Nepalese Association of Toowoomba with the opening of The Engine Room cafe in the historic Railway Street precinct.
Catering for all tastes and with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu, it showed how much the various migrant communities have contributed to Toowoomba’s development. Set in the tranquil upstairs garden area, it was very relaxing to unwind and enjoy the crunchy chips and the gf grilled fish and salad.
Attentive service with a gorgeous smile, and efficient ordering and timely delivery, it was a very pleasant dining experience. There is plenty of room to expand beyond the two tabled areas for organisations to have meetings or to have larger events catered.
